--- title: Trade Mark Policy version: 1 effective: 2026-11-04 --- # Trade Mark Policy Version 1, effective 2026-11-04. > **In short (not the binding text; the numbered sections below are):** > The code is free. The names are not a free-for-all. > Say your app is "made for WolOS" or "runs on WolOS" all you like, if it is true. > Do not make people think WolOS made, approved or vouches for your thing. "Made by WolOS" is ours. > Fork away, but give your fork its own name and logo. > Unsure? Ask julia@wolos.org. We say yes a lot. We can also take a yes back. > Every mark is ours, all rights reserved. Letting something slide once is not a licence. > "Checked" on the hub never means harmless, so do not dress it up as more. ## 1. What this page is 1.1. This page says how you may use the names and logos of WolOS. It applies on the hub, in Work you publish, and anywhere else. The definitions in section 2 of the [Terms of Use](/terms/usage) apply. 1.2. Our software licences give you rights to the code. They do not give you rights to our names and logos. This page does, within its limits. ## 2. Our marks The marks covered here, whether registered or not, are: - **WolOS** and **Wonderland OS**, and the WolOS logo; - **WolOS Hub**; - **Cryswol**, the WolOS app framework, and its gem logo; - **rsh**, as the name of the WolOS shell, and its logo; - the names "Made by WolOS", "Trusted" and "Origin" as labels of the hub. They belong to Júlia Klee, for the WolOS project. All rights in them are reserved. This page gives a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission for the uses in section 3, and nothing else. We may transfer the marks, and this page, to a legal entity that runs the WolOS project. ## 3. Uses that need no permission You may, without asking: 1. say that your Work is **"for WolOS"**, **"made for WolOS"**, **"runs on WolOS"** or **"built with Cryswol"**, when that is true: it installs and runs on a current WolOS release, or uses Cryswol; 2. say **"available on WolOS Hub"** with a link to your listing, while it is listed; 3. say your publisher level, **"Trusted publisher on WolOS Hub"** or **"Origin publisher on WolOS Hub"**, while your Certificate is live at that level; 4. use the names in text to talk about WolOS truthfully: in reviews, articles, tutorials, talks, comparisons, bug reports and teaching; 5. use the names for community groups, events and meetups, if the name makes clear they are run by the community (for example "WolOS users São Paulo"), not by us; 6. ship unmodified WolOS releases under the WolOS name, as we publish them. ## 4. Uses that are not allowed You may not: 1. say or suggest that WolOS made, owns, approved, sponsors, reviewed or vouches for your Work, when it did not: no **"official"**, **"by WolOS"**, **"WolOS approved"**, **"certified by WolOS"**, **"Made by WolOS"**; 2. say or suggest that your Work is harmless or guaranteed because it is on the hub; the hub says "checked", and so must you; 3. use a WolOS logo as your Work's icon or as part of it, or a logo that looks like ours; 4. use a WolOS mark in your Work's name, id, namespace, domain name or social media name in a way that people may confuse with ours (for example "WolOS Cleaner", "wolos-tools.app"); 5. use a name or logo that only changes a few letters of ours or looks like it; 6. ship a modified version of WolOS, or of a WolOS app, under the WolOS name or logo; a fork gets its own name and logo, and may say "based on WolOS"; 7. use a mark in a way that breaks the Wonderland Doctrine or the law, or that harms the reputation of WolOS by association with hateful or illegal content. ## 5. How to write it 5.1. Write the names as they are: WolOS (capital W, O, S), Cryswol, rsh (lower case). 5.2. Keep logos as we publish them: no changes of shape, colour or proportion, no other elements inside them. 5.3. Where it helps, add: "WolOS is a mark of the WolOS project. This product is not made or endorsed by the WolOS project." ## 6. On the hub 6.1. The name rules in the [Hub Policies](/terms/policies), section 4, reserve wolos, wol, cryswol, rsh and the WolOS system app ids. 6.2. A listing that breaks this page may be held, renamed at your request, or withdrawn, as the Terms of Use say. ## 7. Permission and reports 7.1. For any use not covered here, ask julia@wolos.org. Permission is given in writing, may have conditions, and can end if the conditions are not met. 7.2. To report misuse of a WolOS mark, or of your own mark on the hub, see the [Notices and Takedown](/terms/notices) page. 7.3. **Our discretion.** We decide what counts as confusing or harmful use. At any time, at our discretion, we may withdraw the permission in section 3 or in 7.1 from anyone, ask you to stop, rename or withdraw a listing on the hub, and use every remedy the law gives us. Every use of a mark, with permission or without, benefits only us. 7.4. **No waiver.** If we allow or do not act against a use, we do not give up our rights in the mark, against that use or any other. 7.5. **Your responsibility.** If a claim is brought against us because of your use of a WolOS mark, section 16 of the [Terms of Use](/terms/usage) applies, with its limits for consumers. ## 8. Changes We change this page only by a new version, listed in the [Changes Log](/terms/changes). Sections 18 (law and courts) and 21 (general) of the Terms of Use apply. Questions and notices: julia@wolos.org, our designated contact.
